Hope House – 180 Degrees

The Housing First Minnesota Foundation is partnering with Hope House, a nonprofit service provider, and John Kraemer & Sons, a build partner, to offer vital support for young individuals facing homelessness in the southwest metro suburbs. This 8-bedroom shelter, located in Chanhassen, will provide not only a safe space but also the resources, guidance, and opportunities youth need to rebuild their lives. Hope House has already supported over 700 teens overnight and helped nearly 2,700 more via calls and texts since 2016. Despite the need, Hope House often has to turn away nearly twice as many youth as they serve, making this new shelter a critical expansion to meet the demand for youth housing and support.

The new shelter, designed with a trauma-informed, purpose-built approach, will offer private bedrooms for 8 youth, including one accessible room on the main level. In addition to secure living space, Hope House will provide counseling, mentorship, educational support, and life skills training to help young people regain stability and independence. With features like a secure intake area, office space, and a Hope Garden, the shelter will serve as both a haven and a steppingstone to self-sufficiency. This project not only provides a physical shelter but also symbolizes hope, offering youth the tools and support they need to break the cycle of homelessness and build a brighter future.
